Internet Counseling

Q: Do I need a video camera for internet counseling sessions?

A: You do if you wish to have the full experience of audiovisual internet counseling sessions. However, without video, you will still be able to see the etherapist clearly. The only actual requirement is a microphone, and these range in price from $5.00 to $40.00. If you are considering purchasing a camera, they start at $40.00 and go up. Keep in mind we do offer telephone, in office therapy, e-mail and chat online counseling as well.

Q: How do I set up an internet counseling session?

A: Before proceeding to the scheduling page it would be helpful to search through the online therapists or medical staff biographies to decide which clinician specializes in your area of concern. They specialize in areas such as relationship advice, substance abuse or drug abuse, family counseling, marriage problems, career advice, alcoholism, medical questions, pet health questions, PTSD (or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), among others. All the staff have their own specialties and not everyone provides the same medium of service. Not everyone has audiovisual or telephone capabilities. Once you have decided who you would like to see, go to the scheduling page and follow the directions. Once you become a member, you can view and set appointment times that are listed and open for the particular staff member for your online therapy sessions.

For an e-therapy question you can go through the scheduling page and after becoming a member click on any open appointment time and choose e-mail therapy as your preferred medium. Any available appointment time will do. After paying you can send your e-mail therapy question immediately to the online counselor or clinician you selected. The easiest way to ask an e-mail therapy question however is to simply click on the member log in link from the home page. It is direct and simple!

Q: How do I begin an e-therapy sessions?

A: For all types of counseling sessions besides e-mail questions revisit the site 10 to 15 minutes before the agreed upon time return to the site. For chat sessions go to the scheduling page, sign in and go the view calendar page and click on the Chat Area. Sign in and join your online counselor or medical staff member. For telephone sessions call the number that your online therapist gave you by e-mail. For audiovisual sessions please read the audiovisual e-therapy information page carefully. Ten minutes before the therapy session log on to whatever video program you and your therapist decided upon such as Skype.

Q: What problems are appropriate for online therapy?

A: The online counselor can address just about any e-therapy problem or medical question. How to create a healthy relationship, low self-esteem issues, along with most other concerns are ideally suited for e-therapy. Our quality health care staff can discuss issues such as codependence, love addiction, chemical dependence, dysfunctional families, depression, anxiety, healthy relationships, and most medical questions. When and if the need requires more in-depth therapy, we will refer you to the appropriate sources, making this in itself a valuable service. Online counseling is not appropriate for people who are suicidal or suffering from a psychotic disorder or for those under 18 unless we recieve a notorized parental consent for treatment.

Q: What are the costs for e-therapy sessions?

A: We have two separate prices for sessions. In general, Physicians costs are twice the rate of our Masters level therapists and other health care affiliates. E-mail questions are therefore $40 or $50 depending on the clinician you choose. All other mediums are set in 30 minute increments. However, you are not limited in any way and can order a session for as long as you desire. Audiovisual, telephone, and chat sessions are either $80 or $120 an hour depending on the type of clinician. Not all of our staff at present accept all mediums so be sure to check the professionals' biography.

Q: What types of e-therapy are there?

A: As far as mediums of communication via the world-wide-web we offer video, telephone, chat, e-mail, and face-to-face in-office therapy. The different issues covered by our online counselors and medical staff can range from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Substance Abuse, Alcoholism, Family Issues, Relationship Problems, Marriage Problems, Career Coaching, Grief Help , Life Transition, Spiritual Guidance, Chiropractor Questions, Family Medicine, Massage Therapy, Nutrition Advice, Natural Medicine, Alternative Medicine, among many others.

Q: Are there any other resources for self-help?

A: Yes! We have a lot of places in our website where you can obtain self-help. If you want to have an alternative to seeing or talking to an online counselor or medical professional, you can purchase one of our Hypnosis Tapes, CDs and MP3s, as well as Mental Health Videos and DVDs. Hypnosis audio tapes are $19.95 each and the Hypnosis CDs are $24.99 each. Our Hypnosis MP3s are $17.95 each. Mental health educational videos are $59.99 each for VHS and $69.99 for DVD. The Complete set of Mental Health Videos is $399.99 for VHS and $499.99 for DVD (PAL format is available upon request only - allow 4 to 5 weeks for processing and shipping of PAL videos or DVD other than Region 1). You can also find a great selection of Self-help and Self-improvement books in different formats (booklets, books, audio books and e-books).

Q: Are there any FREE resources for self-help?

A: We have a Discussion Groups area with different topics. We also have a Library Section that has movies, books, and music that are related to the above issues. We also have a Mental Health Tips and Articles section with articles and sample emails that can serve as examples for personal issues. There is another section that offers a variety of medicalHealth Tips.
